Response – The Syncher, Not the Song

I knew the Numa Numa Song only from the video that Gary Brolsma did in his room that went insanely viral.  It was a hilarious video that caught fire across the world. I found it interesting hearing the background of the actual song and how it had popularity before the video caught on.  I would have guessed that the video helped launch a career for the music artist would sand the actual song, but it seems like the video may have actually led to the band’s demise.  Obviously the song spread across the globe after Gary posted his viral video, but it lead the band to attempt to enter the American market in a way that didn’t work.

Translating the song was a terrible idea and led to their downfall.  Obviously others noticed and have acted differently when put in the same circumstance.  PSY’s video for Gangnam Style has become the most watched video on Youtube and made the song insanely popular across the globe.  That being said, PSY DID NOT translate his lyrics to English when the song hit American radio waves.  Even though I hear Korean lyrics that I have no clue the meaning of, I still enjoy the song.  I have read that PSY will be releasing new songs in English which I think will not be successful, but only time will tell.

P.S. LOOK OUT FOR MY MY NEXT BLOG POST, IT WILL BE UP AS SOON AS ITS FINISHED.. I PROMISE YOU WILL ENJOY IT!!

  1. Good summary. Yeah, it’s hard to imagine that going from viral star to US pop singer is easy, or possible. Does PSY’s campy attitude give him a better chance? He’s not going to try to be Backstreet Boys (I mean, probably now…right?).

As long as he keeps the elevator cowboy, he’s gotta sell at least a few records, right?
